10 Days In New York

"New York is the quietest city I know. Only amongst a million beating hearts could you still hear the cigarette burn on a balcony in Brooklyn" -Atticus Poetry

New York holds a special place in my heart. When I was given 10 full days to explore everything New York had to offer I could not hold back my excitement. I’ve been to New York on numerous occasions..more than I can count- but on this particular occasion I was able to fully immerse myself in the city. So, whether you too have been to New York many times,  or if this is your first visit, I hope this is helpful in your journey to the city that never sleeps.

Go to a coffee shop or bakery. Each one is unique. My personal favorite is Sweets By Chloe! They have a big selection of tasty treats! I love to get their cupcakes and lattes!

How you doin? 😉 If you are a fan of the famous show Friends then you have to go to Greenwich Village to see the Friends building! There aren’t any signs so it can be a bit of a struggle to locate, though there’s usually a lot of people in the street taking pictures of it. Besides the Friends apartment building, Greenwich Village is just a really unique place to walk around and explore. Definitely add this to your list!

Washington Square Park

This is in Greenwich Village and it’s about a 10 minute walk from the Friends apartment building. Washington Square Park is always filled with activities. I listened to several bands while I was there. You’ll be sure to find something here.

Soho

Soho is a must! It’s filled with restaurants and stores. If you love to shop then you want to add this to your list! I have spent hours here! Fun fact: As I was sitting enjoying my coffee in Soho, I saw Hugh Jackman walk by.

The Brooklyn Bridge

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge! Tip: Don’t walk it in the rain and cold like I did. It’s a bit of a walk and it’s not a lot of fun when you’re absolutely freezing.

Window shop! This could take a day just by itself. The displays are amazing and you’d be surprised by their size. Window shopping is one of my favorite things to do in New York- especially around the holidays!

The Rocketts

Depending on the time of year- Go see the Rocketts Christmas Spectacular! It’s a wonderful show and it’s sure to put you in the Christmas spirit. This show runs from November to January.

The Met

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is huge- in fact it’s the largest art museum in the United States. Plan to spend all day here!

Go see a Broadway Show!

Broadway Shows are so wonderfully done I can’t recommend them enough. This NEEDS to be at the top of your list

New Amsterdam Theatre

Book tours! There’s so many cool things to tour in New York. My favorites were the New Amsterdam Theatre and NBC Studios. Make sure you book your tours in advance. I recommend booking at least a month in advance because tickets are limited. You won’t regret booking a tour. It’s a wonderful experience!

Little Italy

Little Italy is in Lower Manhattan and it’s definitely something you should add to your list. There are plenty of food options. Get yourself some homemade pasta and stop by a bakery for a tasty cannoli. After eating check out some of the stores for fun souvenirs! You don’t need to set aside a lot of time to see it because it is small. I’d recommend 2-3 hours including time for a meal.

Get dressed up and go out for a nice dinner! There’s so many unique restaurants in New York. Every time I go to New York I make it a point to stop at my favorite restaurant- Carmine’s! This is an Italian restaurant that does things a little differently. They serve family style, meaning large portions for multiple guests. Carmine’s has two locations in NYC. The first one is located in Times Square and the second is in Upper West Side. If you like Italian food be sure to add this one to your list!

The possibilities are endless in New York!
